Materials & Finish Selection

FOCUS PROJECT KNOWLEDGE

Materials & Finish Selection

Match the structure, visible finish and cleaning requirements to the way each display will be used.

STEP 01

Wood and engineered panels

Compare solid timber, veneer, laminate and painted board by appearance, edge treatment and intended use. A heavily used service top needs a different finish decision from a decorative fascia. Specify the substrate and exposed edges, not only a color name.

STEP 02

Metal frames and supports

Steel, stainless steel and aluminum can serve different structural and visual roles. Confirm section sizes, joints, visible weld treatment and finish samples. Powder coating, plating and polishing should be selected for the actual component and maintenance conditions.

STEP 03

Glass and acrylic components

Define the glazing type, dimensions, edge finish and access hardware. Acrylic can be considered for dividers, label holders and display inserts; check scratch sensitivity and cleaning compatibility. Do not treat clear material alone as proof of UV protection or a security rating.

STEP 04

Approve a finish combination

Review the cabinet finish, metal trim, glazing, printed graphics and lighting together. Record sample identifiers and the approved drawing revision. For repeat stores, retain a physical reference and define how color differences will be reviewed.
